Jason Palmer - At Wally's: Volume 1(2018)
Palmer, now based in Boston, is from the childhood home of John Coltrane, High Point, NC. This is truly contemporary Jazz with its roots firmly in traditional Jazz. Palmer often deploys a guitar in his bands instead of a piano, and that creates a slightly different sound from most other Jazz quartets/quintets. This time around, Palmer adds a Fender Rhodes to the mix and it fits in perfectly with the guitar -- for the brief time the Fender is there. He is a great player and a fine composer. In fact, his compositions are often so great I can't wait until a decade from now when other Jazz musicians inevitably put out their own versions of his songs.
The only regret here is there should have been more Fender
