Club Noveau - Life, Love, & Pain (1987)
Dated and derivative (of numerous of its predecessors and contemporaries) but still catchy and kitschy in the way a favored ear-worm ought to be. Not quite a one-hit wonder because they had several good songs on this album, but fairly designated a one-album wonder. Most people who were not fans of 80s R&B probably never heard of CN, but their remake of "Lean On Me" is judged both a classic and a miscarriage of musical justice -- I still love that remake.
Joyce Sims - Come Into My Life(1988)
Almost certain to be an unknown name to most, and disliked by anyone not fond of the time's R&B However, this is rated 4.5 stars by AllMusicGuide, though for some reason there is no site-review of it. Discogs has it at 4.3. This was a MONSTER album in my day around my crowd. DJs loved it. (R&B) music geeks loved it. Club heads loved it. Listening to it now brings nothing but sheer joy.
Brand new release. Funk/R&B/Blues artist. I don't know of much sax music outside of jazz. Glad to have it as a feature instrument in R&B rather than background.
