Did you know that RCA Victor was experimenting with stereo way back in 1953? Neither did I.
"Living Stereo" was largely the brainchild of producer-engineer John Pfeiffer. This 2-disc set begins with his very earliest tests, which, though rarely heard, still sound phenomenal today. In addition to groundbreaking technology, we can enjoy some musical fireworks from Nipper's deep roster of legendary artists, including Rubinstein, Horowitz, Cliburn and Heifetz. Wielding the baton, we find Monteux, Reiner, Munch and Stokowski. The second disc contains interviews with Pfeffer and others, illustrated with more "Living Stereo" recordings.
