It's excellent! (The exclamation point is well-earned.)

The sound quality is crystal clear and the musicianship is top-notch.

Several of the live takes sound better than the album counterparts of the same song.

I heard it was distilled in a wooden barrel and aged for three decades for better, smoother sound.

Keef Hartley Band - Halfbreed (1969)

Unfortunate cover and title mar what is otherwise an outstanding jazz rock debut from the guy who replaced Ringo as drummer for Rory Storm and the Hurricanes.

J.J. Cale & Eric Clapton - The Road To Escondido (2006)

Eric's post Cream sound owed more than a little to J.J. Cale, who contributed his first solo hit "After Midnight" as well as the Slowhand loping beat. All these years later, God and Cale finally made it into the studio together. These songs have the loose, joyous feel of old friends trading blues licks at home. Billy Preston, Taj Mahal. Albert Lee and Derek Trucks all joined the festivities but there isn't a hint of the self-conscious pomposity that usually ruins such all star sessions. This one is a delight from start to finish.

:4.5: on the Sam-O-Meter.

The Archers - An Everyday Story Of British Country Folk (1958)

An EP released in tribute to the longest running soap opera in history. Over 19,000 episodes have aired on the BBC since 1951, and it's still going today.

That looks like State Route 78 near Poway.

No wait... S.R. 67 near Cuyamaca, on the way to Julian.

I give up. I should have listened to this before now.

I need to change that.

Does this EP contain music, or just banter and bickering?

The Austin Lounge LIzards - Creatures From The Black Saloon (1984)

Smart ass semi-parodies of trad country music. It's smart enough that I can (mostly) overlook the assery. "Hot Tubs Of Tears" is a bridge too far, though.

:3.5: on the Sam-O-Meter. "Didn't Go To College (But I Could Have")
