Michael Blanco - Spirit Forward (2016)

Young bassist Blanco has been fortunate enough to land talented veterans to perform on his first couple of albums. I don't have his first, but I was fortunate enough to have this one land in my lap last year -- out of the clear blue skies. John Ellis' playing on the saxes is a spot-on match for my listening sensibilities. And that (along with fine playing from the other musicians and great songs from Blanco) make this a very good listen for me.
Thanks for not divulging its source.

It's actually overcast today. I hear it's been raining where you are.

Tropical Fuck Storm - A Laughing Death In Meatspace (2018)

This is a remarkable album, though one I find hard to love due to it's nihilistic, dark tone. Experimental and abstract guitar and synth flourishes are paired with dystopian lyrics sung with a lilting, Aussie accent.

It's very, very original sounding for a rock album and I will probably grow to like it more as repeated listens are holding up for me.

:4.0:

Edit: I rate it four stars because I recognize the quality of the album.
