Moscow Philharmonic Symphony Orchestra (Kirill Kondrashin, conductor) - Shostakovich: Symphonies No. 1, 2, 3 (rec. 1972)

Vienna Philharmonic (Leonard Bernstein, cond.) - Mozart: Symphonies No. 25, 35 & 40 (rec. 1984-90)

An early entry in the long-running "Deutsche Grammophon Collection" presents Lenny The Cool fronting the Vienna Phil in crystal clear live recordings. In his autumnal years, Bernstein was such a stylistic force that he was able to find depth and even melancholy that Mozart might not recognize. For someone like me who is a bit saturated with airless period instrument performances, drama is not a bad thing at all.

Allan Jones - There's A Song In The Air (Jasmine comp. 1998)

Allan is best remembered today as a foil for The Marx Brothers in "A Night At The Opera" and "A Day At The Races". His light operatic style may have faded from popularity since the 30's, but the man could really sing. His duet partners here include such stellar performers as Irene Dunne, Kitty "To Tell The Truth" Carlisle, Jeanette Macdonald, Mary Martin, even Judy Garland. That alone should tell you all you need to know about his talent.

Richard Crandell & Bill Bartels ~ Oregon Hill (1983)

Album/collaboration of acoustic guitar duets

Despite the solely vinyl designation on RYM, it is on CD now

ETA: It is not these two:
