This is lean but not quiet. It's just his voice and the guitar, but his guitar work is great. His lyrics are great and his voice is just right to deliver them.

Bob Wills & His Texas Playboys - Riding Your Way: The Lost Transcriptions For Tiffany Music (rec, 1946-7, Real Gone Music comp. 2014)
Back in the heyday of radio, special recordings were made for stations to buy and broadcast. These "transcriptions" were not available to the public, and often they captured artists during periods they were not making commercial records. Bob Wills was on M-G-M Records at this time but this lengthy series for Tiffany Music Company covered a lot of additional material. Bob had one of his top bands here with Tommy Duncan providing the vocals, Noel Boggs on steel and especially Junior Barnard driving hard on electric guitar.
