Roy Orbison - Live At Austin City Limits (1982)
Last week I hauled out my old bootleg audio copy of Mike Nesmith's 1992 Austin City Limits show. Monkee Mike was not always the most comfortable guy on stage but for that program, he and his road band were at their best.
Roy was also a shy guy but the folks in Austin put him right at ease too. For over an hour, The Big O held the enthusiastic crowd in the palm of his hand. In addition to his legendary hits, Orbison threw in his very first single ("Ooby Dooby") and his then-recent hit duet with Emmylou Harris ("That Lovin' You Feelin' Again").

Herb Alpert "and The Tijuana Brass" - Bullish (1984)
Bullish? More like bullshit.
This is a pretty good contemporary jazz record but despite the billing it has nothing to do with The Tijuana Brass. Apparently Herb performed with a revived version of the TJB in connection with the L.A. Olympics (boy was THAT a long time ago
) but none of those guys play here.

Bob Dorough wrote the music and lyrics for this surprisingly fun project. The whole truly adds up to more than the sum of the parts.
It figures.
Schoolhouse Rock songs are still ingrained in my memory all these years.
I have noted to my kids that a generational dividing point is the Preamble of the Constitution - I suspect most who were young in the 70s'-early 80s, when asked to recite the Preamble, sing it in their head.
